The factors of 72 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 72

Step 2: Identify the common factors.

The factors common to 48 and 72 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24

Step 3: Find the greatest common factor.
