Algebra, percentage, 8th grade

There were 60 sweets in jar. 30% is lemon flavor. Tim came and ate 50% of lemon sweet. How many lemon sweet were left?

Solution:

Step 1 - find out the number of lemon sweet.

60 x 30/100 = 18

Step 2 - calculate number of sweet ate by Tim.

18 x 50/100 =9

Step 3 - calculate number of lemon sweet left.

18 - 9= 9

There were 9 lemon sweets left.
